Abstract

The climate crisis is now one of the most critical issues, not only for societies but also for businesses, national governments and international organizations. The rapid technological advancements of recent decades, primarily driven by continuous innovation, contribute to addressing environmental challenges, as well as problems in society, governance, and play a vital role in achieving sustainable development. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the concepts and elements of sustainable development is provided. In Chapter 2, there is an extensive discussion on ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) factors and the most effective methods for measuring them in businesses and organizations. Chapter 3 focuses on innovation, with a more detailed analysis of environmental innovation, also referred to as eco-innovation, and its key contributors, including green technology patents, the trade of environmentally friendly products, research and development personnel and energy productivity, Trough the literature review it I concluded that eco-innovation positively and significantly impacts the ESGscore of business and organizations. Chapter 4 presents a quantitative analysis of secondary data from sources as Eurostat the World Bank, examining the impact of eco-innovation factors on ESGscore. The findings reveal that the greater the increase in eco-innovation factors, the more positive the impact on ESGscore. Finally, Chapter 5 summarizes the common conclusion drawn from the literature review and statistical analysis.
