The present paper aims at presenting the creation of a story map which tells stories of the industrial history of Piraeus from the nineteenth century until now. Story maps are applications of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), systems capable of storing, displaying and analyzing spatial information, which have become synonymous with mapping for a multitude of fields. Story maps use geography as a means of organizing and presenting information to tell the story of a place, event, issue, trend, or pattern in a geographic context, combining interactive maps with other rich content, such as text, photos, illustrations, video, and audio. Story maps are an invaluable tool for the preservation and display of cultural heritage in a dynamic and engaging way, offering an interactive digital touring experience in sites of cultural interest. The aim of the creation of this story map is to highlight the industrial history and heritage of Piraeus through a digital tour that includes texts, images, sound and video of industries that no longer exist and others that exist today in the form of remnants or reuse.
