The purpose of the diploma thesis is to explore the possibility of cultural promotion in the region of Laconia through an Android application. More specifically, the diploma thesis focuses on the cultural promotion of medieval towns and castles in the region. Laconia is a region in southern Greece with deep roots in the history and culture of Greece. Additionally, Laconia is home to many medieval towns and castles that can be culturally highlighted and provide visitors with an opportunity to explore the history and culture of the area. Furthermore, the creation of the diploma thesis required initial planning and the structure of the application, where the purpose and functions of the application were determined, and the collection of information, including photos, historical data, and geographical coordinates, about the medieval castles and towns of Laconia. In addition, for the creation of the diploma thesis, the application development field was necessary, where the Android Studio development tool was used to build the screens and functions that the application will contain, including tabs for castles and towns, with detailed information about each location. In conclusion, the cultural promotion of medieval towns and castles in the region of Laconia through the creation of an Android application will result in offering an opportunity to highlight the cultural and historical heritage in an interesting and easily accessible way for the general public.
