It is known that one of the biggest forces of the economy is shipping, as a large percentage of international commercial transport is carried out by sea. The shipping companies that undertake this transportation must follow the compliance rules established by the classification society, in order to avoid accidents that have a great impact on human life and the environment as well. Classification society carry out inspections on ships to confirm that the shipping company has complied with all the safety rules and that its ships are properly prepared. In each type of ship the risks that the inspector should emphasize differ. During the inspection, the inspector should have taken appropriate protective measures for his personal safety and has checked that it is safe to enter the premises that he is going to inspect. The professional risk assessment will help the inspector to know from the beginning what the potential risks are in order to protect himself and reduce the risk of accidents.
