The aim of present review is to highlight all possible aspects of the application of alternative dispute resolution methods, with a particular focus on the field of dispute resolution in the Marine Insurance sector. The research examines the application of alternative dispute resolution methods in the Maritime Insurance sector, highlighting their vaste adaptation on an international level to resolve disputes between all parties involved in a maritime venture, including shipowners, charterers, shippers and receivers etc. In general, Arbitration is mostly chosen due to its binding nature, however, Mediation has also become a very popular method of dispute resolution nowdays. Furthermore, new methods have emerged, combining the two methods of Arbitration and Mediation and constitute viable alternatives to the choice of court proceedings.
