This study investigates workplace discrimination within tourism businesses, with a focus on the gender variable. Tourism is the most robust industry in our country, accounting for over one-fifth of the total economic output and providing employment for approximately one-quarter of the workforce, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council. Although the tourism sector offers significant opportunities for empowerment and professional development, notable inequalities persist in its qualitative characteristics. A characteristic example is the composition of the workforce in the tourism sector, which predominantly consists of women. To identify potential explanations and solutions to the issue of discrimination, it is essential to examine how these disparities manifest in the workplace of tourism businesses in Greece, with emphasis on gender. The aim of this paper is to analyze how gender discrimination in tourism businesses is reflected in employees' workplaces. Through this analysis, the goal is to understand the reasons and ways in which discrimination impacts women in the tourism sector and to propose measures that could contribute to reducing these inequalities.
