Αn active company in the competitive global food retail market, must find the suitable strategies that would lead to a viable competitive advantage and success. The purpose of this study is the analysis of Innovation and Sustainable Development strategies combination for the acquisition of a viable competitive advantage in the global food retail market, by deepening into the case study of W. Company W is known for the large supply chain and global growth under the “Every Day Low Prices” strategy which may be easily copied. Although, this strategy is based on the immediate cooperation of W with suppliers and W’s bargaining power towards them. At the same time, the absorbance of innovative technologies and sustainable practices set W beyond other competitors and offer viability to the company’s competitive advantage.
