This master thesis presents the design and development of a web-based self-assessment system
for "green" skills, based on the European Sustainability Competence Framework (GreenComp).
The system aims to address the need for tools that contribute to raising the awareness of
European Citizens on “Green Skills” and, thus, stimulate them in further developing
sustainability-related competences.
The thesis begins with a literature review, focusing on the concepts of competences,
competence description models, and existing competence management systems. Special
emphasis is given to the GreenComp framework and its 12 competencies.
Following this, the thesis provides a detailed presentation of the proposed system's design,
including its architecture, database design, and frontend application, implemented using modern
technologies such as Flutter, Firebase, and a combination of PostgreSQL with Hasura GraphQL
Engine.
The system incorporates features like multilingual support and secure authentication, with a
focus on security, accessibility, and interoperability, making it suitable for both educational and
professional environments.
The thesis concludes with the presentation of the final product, including application screens
and feedback mechanisms, offering personalized results and suggestions for the development
of "green" skills.
