Abstract
This thesis focuses on the development of a Serious Game called Avitar, designed for chronic disease management through an interactive approach. Traditional health apps often fail to engage users. Avitar addresses this challenge by utilizing Unity and the HealthKit API, providing a virtual environment where users interact with their health data. The methodology involves efficient data retrieval from HealthKit and the creation of an avatar that reflects the user's health status. Data used includes cardiac metrics (heart rate, irregular rhythm events), activity data (steps, distance), and vitals (blood glucose, insulin deliveries). The game offers personalized health tips without being overly prescriptive. The findings indicate that user experience improves through this form of interactivity, though further research is needed to refine the user experience.
