This thesis refers to Environmental Management Systems (EMS) as tools in climate change resistance, adaptation and mitigation. Initially, the international, European and national environmental legislation was studied, and reference was made to the BS 7750 standard and the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) Regulation. Then, there were analyzed the characteristics of Environmental Management Systems and specifically the ISO 14001:2015 standard. In support of the above, reference and comparative analysis was made to case studies of both Greek and European companies that have implemented EMS and have been certified according to ISO 14001:2015 and how over the years, based on the sustainable development reports published annually by the companies, they have reduced their environmental footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. Finally, the thesis comes to conclusions.
