This Master's Thesis deals with the design and development of an interactive educational program through animation and digital assessment games at the end of each lesson. The combination of animation and digital assessment games was chosen to help children to better understand the subject matter. By exploiting the advantages of this combination, it is possible to keep pupils' interest in the subject matter presented to them and to enhance learning outcomes.
The aim of the animation is to raise awareness, inform and teach children about the importance of healthy eating, with an emphasis on children suffering from diabetes. Teaching children about nutrition is essential, as it helps to form healthy habits from an early age, prevents chronic diseases such as obesity and informs children about good dietary choices. In addition, children develop important skills to choose and prepare healthy meals, and good nutrition improves their psychosocial development, enhancing concentration, school performance and overall well-being. There are nutrition programs developed by some countries to educate students, parents and teachers. These programs usually include nutrition lessons in schools, initiatives to raise awareness among parents and guardians, the development of specific platforms with educational material, and the creation of digital educational games.
The aim of this educational program is to inform and raise awareness among students of first and second grades of primary school, with or without type 1 diabetes, on the development of healthy eating habits and can be used by school nurses and primary school teachers.
