This thesis focuses on the role of the Hercules Asset Protection Scheme in addressing non-performing loans (NPLs) in Greece and the country’s efforts to regain investment-grade status. It examines the legal and regulatory framework supporting Hercules, along with key stakeholders such as banks, investors, and loan management companies. Through both qualitative and quantitative analysis, the study highlights the reduction in NPLs, improvement in banking metrics, and restoration of investor confidence. The stabilization of the banking sector through Hercules strengthens Greece's prospects for achieving investment-grade ratings and sustainable economic growth.
