This thesis deals with the development of an integrated training program, e-course, which aims to improve Interpersonal and Communication Skills for effective conflict management and resolution in School Counselling and is addressed to Mental Health Specialists, such as Psychologists, Social Workers and Mental Health Counsellors. Through this paper, an innovative approach around skill learning in School Counselling is proposed, the integration of AI simulations. The training program provides participants to practice, on the theoretical background they will gain, in real-life conflict management situations through a safer and controlled environment.
In the second chapter of the paper, the theoretical foundation of this is presented, which is based on the theory of Emotional Intelligence, Social Learning as well as Assertiveness theory. These theories emphasize the importance of Interpersonal and Communication Skills in conflict resolution. In addition, reference is made to Interpersonal and Communication Skills as well as the current challenges of School Counselling and the use of AI as a learning tool. Furthermore, the educational background on the basis of which the training program was created is presented.
In the third chapter, an extensive presentation of the educational design of the project and the research and digital tools used is given. In chapter four, it seeks to evaluate, through an evaluation rubric, the effectiveness of the e-course in improving Interpersonal and Communication Skills using AI simulations, as well as the effectiveness in configuring the Wix platform to support the simulations. The results of the study reveal that the integration of simulations significantly influences the development of participants' skills and the customization on the platform is carried out to a satisfactory degree. Finally, further research in this area is suggested, as well as wider application of the results for generalization.
