This thesis focuses on the design and development of an online course aimed at cultivating skills for managing school violence, particularly for primary schoool teachers. School violence is a complex and contemporary issue that negatively impacts the school environment and students' psychosocial development. The micro-course trains educators on prevention, recognition, and response strategies for school violence incidents, while also enhancing their communication skills, conflict resolution, and psychological support capabilities.
The course content includes interactive modules covering topics such as the nature of school violence, its various forms, and the contributing factors. Additionally, case studies and scenarios from daily school life are presented, allowing educators to practice in real-life situations. Emphasis is placed on preventive strategies and the promotion of a positive school climate to reduce violence and foster cooperation and respect among students. The course also incorporates self-assessment activities and feedback mechanisms, enabling participants to evaluate their progress and improve their skills.
The course was developed on the OpenedX platform, offering teachers a modern and flexible tool to strengthen their skills in managing school violence. Although the current work focuses on the design and development of the course, future research is suggested to evaluate its effectiveness. In particular, a teacher evaluation plan could be designed before and after the completion of the course, in order to measure in a statistically significant way the improvement of their skills in crisis management in the school environment. It is also suggested to incorporate new technologies and add more case studies to further enhance the learning experience.
