This thesis focuses on the development of an interactive application for mobile phones, which
aims to assess the speech of young children. The need for early detection and intervention of
speech problems is critical for the smooth language development of children, therefore the app
was designed to provide a useful tool aimed at speech and language therapists to facilitate and
simplify their work.
In addition to the interactive assessment system, the app includes individual profiles for
patients and a complete history of all patient assessments. Furthermore, particular attention has
been paid to the increased level of access security by using biometric features to protect sensitive
medical data, as well as the simplicity and usability of the navigation interface.
Due to the nature of the application, a harmonious cooperation of different development
technologies (Database, security, usability) is necessary for the optimal final result. Therefore,
the development of the application was carried out using the Rational Unified Process (RUP)
methodology, which is based on an iterative process that allows the gradual improvement and
evolution of the software. RUP offers flexibility in design, as it allows adaptation to changes in
requirements during development. Within this methodology, the phases of inception, elaboration,
construction and transition were carried out, ensuring an integrated and functional result.
