This paper examines the determinants of the life expectancy at birth in France, Greece, Italy, Sweden and United Kingdom for the period 1990-2020. In particular, an attempt is made to specify and interpret the statistical correlation of Gross Domestic Product per capita at purchase price parity, CO2 emissions, urbanization and education treated as independent variables, with the life expectancy at birth, as the dependent variable. To achieve this purpose, two multiple linear progressions run, the first covers the period 1990-2020 and the second one the period 2000-2020, in order to deal with the problem of unavailable data and missing values and form a comprehensive picture as possible about the determinants of life expectancy at birth. Results indicate that Gross Domestic Product per capita and education have a positive effect on life expectancy at birth, while CO2 emissions and urbanization and have a negative impact. Although, the research is subject to limitations, the findings are significant and conclusions can be drawn to formulate proposed policies
