The title of this master’s thesis is "Analysis, monitoring and recording of user emotions while watching audiovisual content" and its aim is to deal with the description of a software project we have built that does exactly that, i.e. it monitors and records the face of its users while they watch various videos published on YouTube and then analyzes them to draw useful conclusions from the above data. The user can use our software either from a Web application through their browser or through the corresponding Android application from their mobile device – this part is the focus of this thesis. Then through our server the above data are sent to Amazon's Rekognition Service to be analyzed and finally sent back to us to be managed and presented through our frontend web application. This service can have useful practical usages in various sectors of our society such as in education to evaluate the learning experience, advertising, marketing and market research by measuring the emotional response of viewers to advertising videos but also in entertainment where it can improve content creation through the immediate feedback it offers and even in the evaluation of artistic works but also in areas such as health and wellness.
