The purpose of this study is to emphasize the theory of Sustainable Development
and its role in the Health sector. Additionally, it examines the concepts of Corporate
Social Responsibility and ESG criteria, providing a comprehensive approach to
understanding how Sustainable Development affects the Health sector and how
Health structures can adopt practices that contribute to sustainability.
Each healthcare structure shows the need to understand the perceptions of its
employees and their level of satisfaction, while the development and maintenance of
social responsibility practices ensure the achievement of Sustainability goals.
Typically, in the Health sector, there is not much data on social responsibility
practices, nor is it easy and practical to measure these concepts. Thus, this particular
research represents a different attempt to measure these parameters through a set of
questions addressed to employees in the Health sector.
Furthermore, this approach analyzed the conceptual and research framework
through which the exploration of the relationships linking Sustainable Development
parameters, a Health organization with ESG criteria, and the action of the human
resources department was achieved.
The research was conducted through a questionnaire. The quality of the collected data
allowed conclusions to be drawn for the entire Health structure. Through the results,
the perceptions of the employees became evident, and the concepts of Sustainable Development, ESG criteria, and the action of the human resources department and
their relationships were analyzed.
Initially, the concept of Sustainable Development was approached through literature
review to define its significance for the Health sector. By understanding the
Sustainable Development Strategy in the Health sector, emphasis was placed on
informing and satisfying employees and their participation in the organization’s
sustainability planning.
The role of the Human Resources Department in managing human resources was
examined separately for its significance and effectiveness, evaluating the existence
of programs and policies concerning personnel and promoting the participation and
development of employees.
Finally, the ESG criteria were approached through questions focusing on assessing
these criteria in a Health organization, examining the opinion, actions, and
importance of each ESG pillar. More specifically, the existence of actions related to
the environment, society, and governance was explored, as well as the satisfaction
level from the implementation of these criteria in Health structures.
