Τhe purpose of the present study is to assess how the educational community perceives the concept of Risk Management, to what extent mental and physical health is prioritized in education, and to identify the various types of dangers and risks that exist in schools. The findings will showcase the necessity of incorporating prevention strategies against them. More specifically, the main research questions are: "what are the challenges endangering the mental and physical safety of students and the methods of overcoming them?" "What kind of knowledge do educators hold regarding risk management?" "What are the challenges that make the incorporation of risk management crucial for schools?" "What are the mental difficulties of educators in schools, and how do they receive psychological support by each school unit?".
The literature review aims to introduce the concept of "Risk Management," the historical events that put it into function in the industry, and the examination of existing risk management methods in educational administration. The research presented in the second chapter will highlight incidents that have taken place in various Greek educational units with the aim of identifying the types of risks in the educational space. Finally, the last chapter aims to highlight the importance of risk management in the education sector and the need for further education and awareness among the educational staff. Through the analysis of a questionnaire given to 125 educators with questions exploring school reality and proposals for its development, we are introduced into the all the possible ways education lacks in mental support and physical protection of the educational staff and of students, leading us to a better understanding of how important is to implement Risk Management in school units.
