The purpose of this research is to approach and present the concept of “outsourcing”, the elements that are related to it (forms/ stages/ advantages/ disadvantages/ difficulties, etc.), as well as to attempt to extract indications on the current situation and impact of outsourcing on Greek businesses.
The existing theoretical framework regarding outsourcing, is the starting point of this work, in order to implement the initial approach to the concept of outsourcing and to present the factors that are related to it. Furthermore, some indicative statistical data regarding outsourcing are displayed, giving an indication of the financial/economic volume involved. In addition, some of the existing research/studies by other researchers/ scholars/ authors are mentioned, extracting through them, useful data/ opinions/ questions/ conclusions/ points of interest, etc. that are used -along with the cited theoretical/bibliographic framework- in the composition of the questionnaire, which is the next stage of this research. The questionnaire leads to a collection of primary data/answers from Greek businesses and economic organizations/Entities, sampled (random-sample research), based on experiential aspects (empirical research) and contemporary data (contemporary research).
Presenting and analyzing the responses of the participants, we extract indications in the scope of the following main areas:
a. Possible advantages and their importance, resulting from the implementation of outsourcing.
b. Possible disadvantages/risks and their severity, resulting from the implementation of outsourcing.
c. Possible difficulties/ weaknesses/ errors and their severity, occurring during the implementation of outsourcing.
d. The extent to which, fifteen Activities [selected based on the existing theoretical framework/articles] are assigned from Greek companies or Greek State organizations, to third parties, in the scope of outsourcing (the Greek companies or the Greek state organizations, as clients).
e. The extent to which, referring to the above same fifteen Activities, Greece could be highlighted and benefit from, as a "hot spot" in the scope of outsourcing (the Greek companies or the Greek State organizations, as vendors).
f. The extent to which the current framework of legislation and the other regulatory framework of the Greek State, facilitates the attraction of Business Activities to be undertaken from Greek companies in the scope of outsourcing [promotion of Greece as a "hot spot of Business Activities" - Promotion of Greek companies/economic organizations as vendors].
