The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the dynamic interaction between
corporate responsibility and sustainability practices in the context of the Greek agri food sector. As global concerns about environmental degradation, social equity and
economic stability intensify, the role of the agri-food industry in achieving sustainable
development is becoming crucial. First, there is talk about the importance of corporate
responsibility for sustainable development, with reference to international contexts,
reference to corporate responsibility as well as the difficulties it entails. Next, corporate
responsibility and sustainable development in the agri-food industry are examined,
specifically studying the value of corporate responsibility and sustainable development
in the agri-food industry and the critical areas of their application. The study then
explores the current landscape of corporate responsibility initiatives and sustainability
practices adopted by Greek agribusinesses, focusing on three of the best known in the
country, Nestle Hellas A.E., PEPSICO HELLAS ABEE and NITSIAKOS Α.Ε.,
considering their impact on environmental conservation, social well-being and
economic resilience.
