This dissertation focused on the study of, on the one hand, whether there is an increase in burnout symptoms of nurses during the pandemic compared to previous periods and, on the other hand, the wider impact of their work as nurses on satisfaction and burnout. As far as burnout is concerned, it is perceived as a wider state of fatigue and exhaustion of body and spirit associated with long hours, poor working conditions and contact with people who are dealing with bereavement. For the empirical investigation of the phenomenon, primary data is collected, specifically, n=66 nurses working at the KAT hospital in Athens. Specifically, the empirical investigation of the phenomenon for this sample was done using a questionnaire. The research shows that 81.8% of the sample are women, 54.5% did not work in a covid-19 unit, 81.8% hold a tertiary degree, 66.7% are up to 35 years old, while 59.1 % have experience up to 5 years. Regarding their answers to the main part of the study, it appears that, on average, they neither agree nor disagree that some days they feel tired before they even go to work (average=3.41/5), as well as they neither agree nor disagree as to whether they feel they have the mood after work to engage in leisure activities (average =3.41/5). They tend to disagree that they think they perform their work mechanically (average =2.92/5), and that they feel emotionally exhausted when they work. Then, they disagree that with great Συχνότητα after their work, they now feel that they require more hours to relax and rest (average =2.02/5). In moderate to limited Συχνότητα, they can manage their workload well (average =3.08/5), while, to a small extent, they feel energy when they work (average =2.09/5), but to a moderate degree they consider that the their work makes them tougher (average =3.21/5).
