International trade is seen as something very important, especially for developing countries, as it can lead to increased employment and provide valuable scope for export growth. In recent decades, many scholars have adopted an organizational perspective of international trade trying to explore the forces that prevent firms from starting, developing or sustaining export activities. However, the vast majority of studies have explored the barriers to export opportunities for manufacturing firms from developed countries (those organizations that produce goods rather than services). The focus of the research in the context of developed countries may impose some limitations on the generalizability of the findings. Therefore, in order to get a comprehensive picture of the issue, it is necessary to conduct research on the barriers faced by developing country exporting organizations. Several studies have been published that have dealt with export problems affecting developing country product manufacturing firms. Exports play an important role both at the macroeconomic and microeconomic levels. At the macroeconomic level, exports contribute significantly to Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the level of economic growth, employment and the balance of payments. At the microeconomic level, exports provide opportunities for firms to achieve economies of scale by not being confined to a saturated market and by expanding their reach and serving customers abroad. In this way, organizational stability can also be achieved by reducing over-reliance on a particular market. In this paper, the export potential of Greek organizations was studied by adopting the qualitative method. The conclusions were considered interesting and fruitful.
