In the era of market globalization and ever-increasing competition, companies are inevitably led to investment moves, which are mainly based on business partnerships, which, through the change of the corporate structure, have as their main objective the strengthening of their position in the market.
Greece is a country characterized by the existence of many very small, small and medium-sized enterprises. Today, approximately eight hundred thousand (800,000) small and medium-sized enterprises are active in the country, of which ninety-five percent (95%) have up to ten (10) employees, while only six hundred and seventy-two (672) large enterprises have more than two hundred and fifty (250) employees. However, the existence of many very small, small and medium-sized enterprises do not give their owners the advantage they would like or should have in order to be sustainable and grow both domestically and abroad.
The international financial crisis found the Greek economy in a particularly difficult period. Businesses, within a short period of time, found themselves faced with a new, negative environment, with the market turning upside down and uncertainty prevailing. Now businesses must find innovative solutions that will be based on the operation of the market and the reduction of their operating expenses, with the aim of their survival and their return to growth rates. An important weapon in this effort of businesses is the development legislation to provide development incentives through partnerships and corporate transformations, with the aim of creating large economic units, with the main legislation L.4935/2022 published on May 26, 2022.
Essentially the goal is, through the incentives given to small and medium-sized businesses but also freelancers such as lawyers, accountants, engineers, etc., for businesses to grow through mergers to survive, develop and become competitive. The question that arises now is how beneficial this new law will ultimately be for Greek entrepreneurs and how much they will want to make the most of this new corporate transformation law and take their business activity to another level.
