The purpose of this thesis is to understand the issue of gender-based violence in the context of the theory of moral exclusion in relation to the theory of pseudo-apology and image repair strategies and the theory of blame avoidance strategies. The aim is to carry out a cognitive groundwork which will be used by the pedagogical technocrats to develop a teaching method to address gender-based violence.
Cognitive groundwork is a necessary step in order to fully understand the context in which violence against women takes place. Understanding social reality is the starting point for addressing any social issue. In the present research, the analysis of the three theories is carried out through a literature review, and the use of causal diagrams represents the connection between them.
Then, in the context of four case studies, the connection between the theories of moral exclusion, pseudo-apology and image repair strategies and blame avoidance strategies is highlighted, confirming the validity of the phenomena in relation to the issue of gender-based violence. It is therefore necessary to develop a pedagogical proposal in order to achieve a gradual response to violence against women.
