Abstract
To begin with, the energy sector is one of the largest and most important sectors of the economy. It provides energy for homes, businesses and industries, and is responsible for generating, transporting and trading energy. Still, it is a dynamic and changing industry. New technologies and developments in the energy market are constantly influencing the industry. The energy sector is an important sector for the economy and the environment, and will continue to play an important role in the future.
Thus, in this thesis, a report is made on the formation of crude oil, the current use by humans, the advantages and disadvantages that exist from the use. Then there is a historical review of the oil market as well as how the market works, but also the report of four major oil companies in the world, BP, Chevron, Exxon and Shell. In addition, reference is made to factors influencing the supply and demand of oil and also the role of OPEC in the market.
Finally, there is the case study where the interaction of the price of crude oil in relation to the share prices of the aforementioned companies is examined in an extreme situation in the global economy, namely the war that broke out in Ukraine.
