In the Diploma Thesis the non-central t, F and X2 distributions are examined in both theoritical and practical level. Noncentral distributions are families of probability distributions that are related to other "central" families of distributions by means of a noncentrality parameter. Whereas the central distribution describes how a test statistic is distributed when the difference tested is null, noncentral distributions describe the distribution of a test statistic when the null is false (so the alternative
hypothesis is true). This leads to their use in calculating statistical power. Our thesis will present the definitions and main features of each distribution in statistics and probability theory, along with the graphical representations. The first chapter will be an introduction to the definition of the non central distributions and more precisely the ones what we will discuss. At the second chapter, the non centras X2 is examined, in the third the non central F and in the forth the non central t distribution. Additionaly, their applications in Biostatistics will be also included in the last chapter.
