Sub-Sahara Africa ; Macroeconomic analysisAbstract
Improving the health conditions of the population is considered, among policy makers, as an important means of increasing human capital, achieving sustainable development, reducing poverty and inequalities and improving well-being. The amount of expenditure incurred for the preparation and improvements in the health of the population is considered health expenditure and therefore we focus on them in this work. At the same time, there is a link between health care expenditure and macroeconomic variables and thus it is sought to investigate the explanatory power of specific macroeconomic variables for health expenditure. Specifically, this paper seeks to highlight three research questions: What are the health conditions of Africa, what are the health expenditures and the course of financing in these countries, and how do macroeconomic variables affect health expenditures. Specifically, we chose to study selected Sub-Saharan African countries for the period 2000-2019.
