One of the most important branches of the supply chain is logistics management, which organizes, implements and controls the efficient flow of goods from the supplier to the final consumer. In today's era, the implementation of ecological logistics activities has gained particular interest as environmental issues are on the rise and need immediate treatment by all actors of the supply chain. When we refer to the term sustainability, the majority of people focus mainly on the environmental sector. However, sustainability concerns society as well as the economy. For the implementation of environmentally friendly processes, the state also has a decisive role, which can influence the business process as it can have a supportive, coercive and managerial role. On the other hand, businesses are asked to reorganize their strategies and adopt new practices that will simultaneously make them more ecological and profitable in the long term while always maintaining a good reputation. Finally, an ally in this effort are the new technologies of the fourth industrial revolution (Internet of Things, Blockchain, Big data, AI, etc.) that can offer new possibilities for monitoring and optimizing processes in new digital systems.
