This thesis initially aims to present what a physical museum is and how the creation of a virtual museum enables a wide audience to study, learn through it the history of a region, a culture.
Initially, the definition of a virtual museum is given, some useful historical data and the possibilities it gives us today are recorded. Through the examples of virtual museums that are given, we understand the need that exists today, with the rapid course of the digital age, to utilize new technologies in another important sector of our society. This area is the promotion of culture with the aim of educating the whole of society.
The thesis presents what a virtual museum could be like for a wider geographical area, currently consisting of an archaeological site, two museums in Chalkida and Thebes and collections found in natural museums abroad.
Suggestions are given as to what this virtual museum might contain and how it can be set up. These suggestions are based on how the user can easily and quickly find what he is looking for, refer to any time period he wishes and have the information collected.
The ultimate goal is for the way the virtual museum is created to ensure that the visitor's tour of it will offer him a meaningful experience from whatever device he is browsing. Devices such as a desktop computer or laptop, mobile devices (mobile or tablet). The visual elements with which the user comes into contact must be clear and understandable with proper layout, aesthetics and functionality so that the user can immediately find what he wants.
