Probabilistic models and Distributions are used quite often in Statistics to describe the available data and carry out Analysis and Inference on them. Without any doubt as the complexity of data rises, the need for advanced analytical methods arises as well. Hopefully, large advances in Distribution theory guarantee the existence of state of the art models and Distributions that can cope with this ever-growing complexity in unidimensional and multidimensional data. The main goal of this Dissertation is to present the theory of the family of Spherical and Elliptical Distributions and highlight its use in practical problems.
