Manufacturing principles have transformed the way leading companies deliver their products to their customers and manage their relationships with their suppliers worldwide. As competition becomes more globalized, innovation is increasingly between supply chains and less between companies. In order to compete with low-cost countries (such as China), the remaining companies must acquire skills in supply chain management in the spirit of just-in-time (JIT) production and mass production. Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) are key elements of any lean initiative. In this area, the most commonly measured Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) relate to just-in-time (on-time delivery and inventory turnover ratio).
Measuring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supply chain management (SCM) is an essential part of the agile supply chain concept. Today, more and more companies and organizations have implemented KPIs analysis applications in order to improve their efficiency and competitiveness. Our study focused on the case of the IKEA furniture company and the analysis of the performance indicators of the logistics chain. Arguably, the inventory turnover ratio is the main KPI used to determine supply chain agility. That said, logistics costs are an indicator of the effectiveness of companies' logistics and SCM activities as part of their lean manufacturing strategy.
