The demand for energy and the relative services required for humankind’s social and
Economic growth, prosperity, and health are increasing at a very rapid pace.
Moreover, the increase in carbon dioxide emissions as well as the significant climate
Change is one of the greatest challenges of the 21st century. These severe
consequences can still be avoided provided those necessary efforts are put into the
transformation of today’s energy systems Renewable energy sources are the decisive
means for the reduction of gas emissions that contribute to the greenhouse effect, as
well as a solution to the reduction of reserves of traditional energy raw materials
including the Russian gas. The purpose of this thesis is to make an extensive reference
to the evolution of Renewable Energy Sources as well as to report the most recent data
regarding their production and demand in the interconnected electrical grid of Greece
with the aim of predicting measurements for their input into it and achieving of the
guidelines—goals that have been set. Finally, it should be noted that this work, using
time series, predicted that the average monthly increase for the energy produced by
interconnected photovoltaic systems is of the order of 58.2% for the period of June
2022 to May 2023.
