The major changes occurring globally require new forms of leadership that can promote inclusion in response to current demands. Such change is the inclusion of refugee students who came to Greece in large numbers from 2015 onwards, challenging the national education system. This work aims to depict the implementation of the inclusion of refugee students in the local context and to record leadership behaviors of principals in secondary education units which promote it in the region of Chalkida, in the island of Euboea. During the last decades significant progress has been made in the areas of transformational and ethical leadership theory, along with the urgent need of implementation of inclusion in the light of interculturality. These consist the theoretical framework of the present qualitative research and the methodological tool of semi-structured interview produced reach data. The findings of this research show that principals apply transformational leadership while inspiring and guiding teachers. Moreover, they cater for better organization, as well as provision of fair and quality education to refugee students according to the values of ethical leadership under an intercultural view. The need for training in leadership and inclusion issues was raised by the research participants. Furthermore, many obstacles to the inclusion of refugee students were recorded related to their belated start of school attendance, far after the beginning of the academic year, and the difficulty of communication due to language barriers. Significant challenges have emerged for the central administration in terms of effective planning of procedures, changes in the curriculum, enrichment of school programs and textbooks - efforts that should be made so that, eventually, all students together and each one separately receive the education they are entitled to.
