The present thesis entitled as ‘School leadership and energy crisis management: Views of primary school principals on how to manage the energy crisis in the prefecture of Trikala’, is primary quantitative research, which aims to investigate the extent to which the energy crisis has affected the operation of primary education units in Trikala from the point of view of the principals, and to examine the point of view of the principals of primary education in Trikala regarding all the effects of the modern energy crisis on the operation of the school, the school climate, student attitudes and quality of education provided. The aim of the present thesis is also to investigate how the leaders of these schools in Trikala think they can be involved or have been involved in dealing with the energy crisis. To achieve the research objectives a quantitative study was adopted utilizing as a research tool the structured questionnaire, which was constructed by the researcher herself for the purposes of the research, in according to the literature. The distribution of the questionnaire was carried out by face-to-face and remote methodologies, to a sample of one hundred principals of the primary education (kindergartens and elementary schools), in Trikala. The survey results were analyzed in a descriptive distribution of frequencies which were analyzed afterwards with the accompanying literature. Through this research, it was found that the majority of principals in Trikala, while preparing plans to deal with the energy crisis, state that due to the lack of financial resources, they cannot implement them. Also, the majority of school principals manage this crisis in creative ways, and less so in ways that involve energy conservation or designing schools with solar panels, which the literature suggests is happening due to a lack of resources and knowledge. The results of the research identify and complement the findings of other studies, which have been achieved out of Greece there’re no surveys in Greece to be compared to the findings of our survey.
