This paper examines the relationship between education and the economy as well as the results of investments in education. Financial options are explored and examined in the issue of financing education and especially secondary education. Both the pathologies of the Greek economy and the instability of the political system are analyzed in relation to their negative long-term effects on the financing of the Greek education system as well as how the state of education in the country worsened due to the economic crisis. Expenditures and the educational financial policy of recent years are presented and analyzed, while relevant data published by the Greek statistical authority are also presented.
