The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented situation in all sectors of society, including the education sector. In the education field, it brought about unprecedented changes, as a series of challenges had to be faced concerning its two main pillars: protecting the health of students-teachers and conducting the educational process. This situation created new data in the administration of schools, initially with the use of distance education and then with the return of students to the normality of school life. Therefore, school leaders faced new situations, often difficult to manage, increasing their important role in the management of educational units.
The concept of leadership is a key element of administrative theory and, in this case, an important criterion for the effectiveness of school units in the field of education. The role of leadership during school crises has to deal with events in order to minimize the possibility of disrupting the "normality" of a school unit. The characteristics, actions and skills that a school leader must possess in the period of crisis differ from those in a common school environment.
This paper studies the leadership profile that school leaders have, while at the same time an attempt is made to record their opinions and experiences with the aim of investigating the factors that influenced and are influencing the effectiveness of school leadership in the period of the COVID-19 Pandemic through a survey with a questionnaire.
