Thirty years of research as well as recent studies (Bellibas et al. 2021, Ismail et al. 2021, Mirsultan, & Marimuthu 2021, Paschal & Mikulu 2021)) connect the Transformational Leadership with the work satisfaction and school effectiveness. Avolio and Bass (1991) confirmed that, through transformational leadership style, organizations thrive.
Women adopt the transformational leadership model, which is a participative form of leadership (Bass 1999). Women principles seek solutions encouraging participation, inform their partners, motivating the staff at the same time, to share a vision for the school unit (Coleman, 2003).
The present thesis explores the views and perceptions of teachers and principles about how much the transformational leadership was implemented, its correlation with the degree of effectiveness of teachers in the General Public lyceums in the district of B’ Athens. Moreover, it explores suggestions of teachers and their female principals, so that we can approach the school we deserve.
The data collection was carried out between 17/5/2022 until 17/6/2022 with the participation of 78 teachers from school units with a woman principal. The instrument of the data collection used in the research was the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire MLQ 5x-Short of Avolio and Bass (2004) which concerns the part of the Questionnaire which counts the transformational style of leadership. The main findings of the research showed that the transformational leadership of the female principals, as it was conceived by the teachers, is implemented in very satisfying degree in the public general lyceums in the district of B’ Athens with mean M=2,78 (55,77%).
About the dimensions of the Transformational Leadership the means of the five factors- dimensions of the Transformational Leadership, fluctuate between 2,58 and 3,06. The Idealized Influence- Attributed has the highest mean and Inspirational Motivation, Intellectual Stimulation, Idealized Influence Behaviour and Individualized Consideration follow.
On the results of implementing Transformational Leadership, the research showed that the teachers of the district of B’ Athens realize that their female principal responds to school requirements, with Mean Effectiveness M= 2,62.
Concerning the correlation of the five dimensions of the Transformational Leadership and the three Leadership outcomes after the implementation of the Transformational Leadership, research showed that a very strong correlation was found between the Intellectual Stimulation with the Satisfaction of the teachers M=0,873 as well as between the Individualized Consideration and the Satisfaction of teachers with M=0,868. The correlation according to the recorded p values is statistically important.
The demographic attributes of teachers such as the gender, the years of service, the level of studies do not affect the outcome of the Transformational Leadership as it is perceived by the teachers.
