Globalization has brought many changes to the world map and migration is one of the most important social issues internationally. Over the years, Greece, from a relatively homogeneous population, has slowly turned into a melting pot of people and cultures. The consequent social rearrangements in the structure and functioning of the Greek society have affected various sectors, such as labour, security, health and education.
Intercultural education is considered to be the most appropriate approach to cultural diversity and the elimination of discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices in schools. This thesis examines the relationship of school leadership with intercultural education and the contribution of teachers and principals to its promotion. For this purpose, a questionnaire was designed, with open and closed type questions, which was given to primary education teachers, who work in schools both in Attica and in the province.
Afterwards, the results of the research were analyzed and correlated with the Greek and international literature. Finally, conclusions were drawn on the implementation of the principles of inclusive education, highlighting the role of school leadership in promoting intercultural education, the competence of teachers to manage cultural heterogeneity in schools and the educational model of managing cultural pluralism that is used today
