The aim of this study is to understand the role of the pharmacy and the pharmacist during
the COVID-19 pandemic era. To do so, a quantitative survey was conducted using an
electronic questionnaire, in which a high number of questionnaires (n = 514) was
collected. The analysis of the research results led to useful conclusions concerning the
contribution and the role of the pharmacy and the pharmacist during a period of time
when the citizens were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic at a global and a national
level. The human intimacy to the pharmacist and the spatial proximity to the pharmacy,
as well as the friendliness, the social relations, the role of the pharmacy in the community
and the supplementary health services that the pharmacies provide largely determine the
views of the research participants on the role of the pharmacist and are the basic criteria
for choosing a pharmacy.
