The need for improving diversity in the workplace : the case of shipping industry

Abstract
The present work refers to the diversity of people and how this should be respected by everyone in our everyday life and in our workplace. The different categories of diversity and the methods a company can use to support diversity and promote respect are discussed. We also refer to the treatment of women in general in the field of shipping and the cultural differences of the ships' crew and in what ways we could improve the communication of the employees.
