The aim of this paper is to examine whether and to what extent socio-economic inequalities have intensified in the educational community, due to the implementation of distance education (DE), during the school closures. The first chapter reviews the literature, in order to set the conceptual framework of the DE, to examine the conditions in which it took place and the methods used. The second chapter presents the institutional framework for the implementation of DE in Greece. The third chapter analyzes the social and economic inequalities that pre-existed, intensified and / or emerged by the implementation of the DE. The fourth chapter presents the research methodology, hypotheses and queries, analyzes the data collection tools and the characteristics of the research sample. The fifth chapter presents the statistical analysis of the data. The research included questionnaire data. In the sixth chapter, the statistical analysis of data revealed that there was a statistical significance between the smooth and effective outcome of distance education and the social and economic situation of teachers and students’ families.
