Studying the use of educational videos in professional training on “Aesthetic Art and Makeup”

Abstract
The present master thesis is an action research for the study of the utilization of educational videos in adult structures and specifically in Public Institute of Vocational Training – IVT specialty "Aesthetic Art and Makeup".
The benefits of integrating educational videos are increasingly being documented in the international literature, supporting the educational practice and changing the traditional way of learning, while at the same time proving that videos have a positive impact on learning, with several countries using it as a way of transmitting knowledge.
Specifically, in the present master thesis, an educational action research was designed in which three categories of educational videos (theory video, demonstration video and question solving video) were incorporated in the " Aesthetics Limbs " course of the first semester, which has a laboratory and theoretical part. Also, a comprehensive educational intervention was designed and implemented in two study groups. In the first part of the trainees (control group) the traditional way of teaching was followed, while in the second part (experimental group) the three categories of video teachers were integrated.
More specifically, the research questions of action research were:
1) Were there any differences between the 2 groups in terms of their degree of interest, motivation and involvement in the course?
2) Were there any differences between the two groups regarding the need for additional instructions for the teacher to understand the lesson?
3) Were there any differences between the two groups in terms of their performance in the course (through the score)?
4) Was there an improvement in student performance after watching the question-and-answer instructional videos (through grading)?
5) Was there a difference in student interest between video theory, demonstration video and question solving video?
The results of the action research showed that the use of educational videos can bring better learning outcomes, as it improved the performance of the learners, increased their interest and engagement with the lesson and helped to solve questions.
