Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the role and work of the international organizations ISO and IMO and their contribution to global shipping.
The first chapter examines the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and its contribution to world shipping.
The second chapter analyzes the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and its contribution to the shipping community.
In the third chapter we attempt to compare the above International Organizations and the participation of Greece in them.
The fourth chapter sets out the conclusions as well as the sources which the information was drawn for the preparation of this study.
