Abstract
The rapidly increasing technological development and its ever-increasing proliferation lead to the digitization of society. This digital "revolution" has implications for modern organizations on many levels. Previous research focuses on the effects of digitization on customer preferences, buying behavior, marketing and business performance. However, the way it affects organizations internally has generally been neglected by the research sector, especially in terms of its implications for human resource managers. Therefore, the aim of this dissertation was to deepen the management of human resources in the digital age. More specifically, the aim was to gain a deeper understanding of how digitization is affecting human resource managers. Through quality interviews, this dissertation presents an in-depth study that analyzes how the human resource managers of an organization facing digital transformation perceive the effects of digitization. The study sheds light on how digitization has an impact on HR managers beyond simply reducing and automating administrative tasks. Digitization requires HRM to evolve, as it requires new HR skills, new forms of employment and flexible HR processes. A key element in managing the impact of digitization is the process of understanding what digitization means for this context. The contribution to the research sector is ultimately an enlightenment on the indirect consequences of digitization for human resource managers. In addition, this study shows that the effects of digitization need to be understood from a holistic perspective.
