The international business literature flourishes mainly during the last thirty years because modern international business is formed during the last decades and the level of complexity is by far larger than the corresponding of the domestic business. A common topic that scientists debate is the internationalization – financial performance relationship. Aspects of the influence of the degree of internationalization to the financial position are examined in the dissertation. The sample is the five hundred largest firms according to their sales and a new variable is made to cluster firms according to their internationalization level. Additionally, the effects of the economic sector and the country of origin of the firms, on their financial position are examined. The country-of-origin variable consists of the developed and the emerging countries. Moreover, the analyses concerning the degree of internationalization and the economic sector are made in each country category independently. The findings generally support that the three independent variables affect the firm financial position, as significant differences are observed among the categories and sectors examined. The survey confirms and extends the current knowledge on the above-mentioned topics and poses a benchmark per category and sector examined.
