A literature review of intermodal networks

Abstract
The value of intermodal transports is being increasingly recognized and appreciated throughout the years. The aim of this report is to describe and analyze how this method of transport contributes essentially not only to the decrease of time and cost of transports, but also to the increase of the demanded safety, while leaving a more respectful environmental footprint, related to other methods. Some of the tools called for in order to vault over the emerging obstacles towards the optimized used of intermodal transports. The only thing that appears to be sure is that the application of intermodal transports will be even more enhanced in the near future.
