This thesis refers to organization issues and space allocation in warehouses and distribution Centers. Initially, various issues related to supply chain management, innovations, distribution channels as well as the role of the supply chain in companies, the strategy they follow and the information systems they use are mentioned.
Then begins the analysis of specific issues for spatial planning and the organization of a warehouse. This analysis includes information on the importance of creating a storage system for a company's supply chain, expresses and analyzes the basic storage functions, equipment and tools used as well as the concerns that may arise around issues such as decision on the creation of privately owned warehouses, the number, size and location of warehouses as well as the flow and management of materials within a warehouse.
Then the various functions of a warehouse will be examined. This section describes the processes of the warehouse, packaging, product delivery as well as current trends in warehouse management.
In addition, an analysis is performed on the warehouse management systems (WMS), which gives us information about the types, the operation as well as the selection criteria that a company must take into account.
Finally follows the case study for Company "X" which belongs to the field of Logistics and offers warehouse services and product management services to another company – customer.
