Development of a Warehouse Management System

Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is the development of an application for managing the warehouse of
an airline corporation. This application is to be used by the warehouse, Purchasing/Logistics,
and engineering departments employees. Firstly, the engineers should be able to issue a
request to the warehouse staff. Next, the warehouse keepers should be notified about the
request, check the stock, and then provide the material to the engineering department. In case
of material’s unavailability, the warehouse keepers should have the ability to forward the request
to the Purchasing/Logistics department which should request for quotations from the available
suppliers. After the suppliers’ response about the requested material, the financials department
should be able to approve the most advantageous quotation for the purchasing department to
place the order. All the typical functions of a WMS are included and are full functional such as
the materials’ records and prices and the suppliers’ catalogues. The application also has the
feature to export the purchase orders to a format that is used to import the orders’ data to the
SAP ERP. The selected technologies will be examined, and each stage of development will be
presented.
