The present study of the Master’s Thesis presents the general theoretical framework that governs the behavior of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), and in particular the presentation and analysis of foreign direct investment in Bulgaria through the example of an investment of a Greek chocolate industry ION S.A. Specifically, the study analyzed the main factors that determine and influence the country’s behavior and operational framework of this country also then relationship between the foreign direct investment inflow to Bulgaria with economic growth of this. The collapse of the communist regime in Bulgaria and the effort to switch to the market economy system, while at the same time the country continues efforts to follow a series of important reforms as a result of attracting FDI by foreign multinational companies. Financial data for the period 1990-2019 were used for the analysis of the research.
Finally, the example of the Greek chocolate industry ION S.A.is fully analyzed. The Greek company established a subsidiary, INTERION S.A. in Bulgaria area. The study analyzes the geostrategic position, financial results, microeconomic environment, management and marketing strategy and pricing policy.
